Dr. Gates and Dr. Rutherford discuss the technology challenge.
Recipe of the Week
Asparagus and Mushroom Spaghetti Squash Quiche
We made a similar quiche for Mother’s day which was delicious, but unfortunately the recipe is not online. Looking forward to trying this recipe that looks just as good! Enjoy!
Hello Doctors,
It was your request that you wanted feedback on the technology challenge. Here is some of my feedback for what it may be worth to you. First, Dr. Gates, I’m impressed that you took this challenge and the results that it had for you. I think that is wonderful! No doubts that other patients who took this challenge had similar results.
However, people like me who work swing shift or grave yard it is challenging. One of the ways that I wind down at night is by watching a favorite t.v. show or by playing a game or two on my phone. As long as I set a time limit on how long I do these things, I generally don’t have any problems getting to sleep afterwards. On the days that I don’t have to work, I don’t check e-mails or go on social media after a certain time, simply because it doesn’t interest me as much as it use to. I think if we make it priority to stop doing stuff on social media or check e-mails at least 2-3 hours before we “plan” to go to bed that it can make a difference. Feel free to correct me or advice otherwise if you want. I’m open to ideas and suggestions on it.
Thank you for all your hard work. You are amazing!
My husband and I have been doing the tech challenge since last Wednesday. We both have noticed that we fall asleep much easier this way and have decided to keep doing it 🙂 Thank you!
As you requested, here is some feedback regarding your technology challenge. It was extremely easy to do since I don’t do face book anyway. The week was the same as always with no extra stress except for ongoing pain. The extra pain also causes a problem with sleeping and probably increases stress levels.
Watching ball games can also be extremely stressful, especially if your team is losing or if they do stupid things.
Love your weekly episodes and thanks so much for sharing you words of wisdom.
My life is so much better since I stopped watching the news and TV dramas before bedtime. Now I am able to drop off to sleep easily. My whole day is better now that I don’t watch TV news or other programs that get me upset, worried, distressed and so forth. I’m doing more reading of books. Enjoying my garden. Watching the birds that come to the feeder. Knitting to music. I do not have conversations on my phone after 8:30 pm and no computer work after 7:30 pm. I feel much more peaceful.
DEAR DRS. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOUR COMMENTS. I KNOW THERE ARE MANY MEANS OF HABITS PRIOR TO GOING TO SLEEP, WHETHER IT BE READING A BOOK; TURN DOWN THE LIGHTING AND LET THE BRAIN ADJUST TO IT’S TIME FOR THOSE CIRCADIUM RHYTHMS, etc. I KNOW AND BELIEVE YOU ARE ONTO A VALIDATION BECAUSE FOOTBALL SEASON WITH MY 49ers THAT DR. GATES CAN ATTEST TO WHEN I DID MY SWAB TEST; IT COULD HAVE BEEN MIDNIGHT AND I WOULD HAVE BEEN MZ. DIEHARD RIGHT THERE WATCHING AND NOT ACKNOWLEDING THE IMPORTANCE OF THE TIME ELEMENT; WHICH IS ESSENTIAL FOR ALLOWING A GOOD NIGHT’S SLEEP.
DEAR DRS. I NEGLECTED TO FINALIZE MY ANALAGIES. I TRULY FEEL AND EXPERIENCE THAT THE LESS STIMULATION I HAVE AS I APPROACH THE BEWITCHING HOUR; THE BETTER I SLEEP. IF I RECEIVE MENTAL STIMULATION IN A SUBJECT THAT INTERESTS ME; SUCH AS MEDICAL RESEARCH; I’M A GONNER, I WILL JUST EXCEL MY ENERGIES INTO MY PASSION FOR THOSE I LOVE AND EVEN FOR MYSELF. SO DIANA, BEWARE!, THE KEY WORD IS SUBJECTS THAT ARE OF INTEREST AND I FEEL THAT APPLIES TO ALL LEVELS OF TECHNOLOGY OF EVERY GENRE. EVEN THE OLD SCHOOL SUCH AS MYSELF. IT’S ALL ABOUT DESIRE AND PASSION HERE PEOPLE.
