Schizophrenia: The role of Inflammation and Food Allergies

We have had a number of requests to talk about schizophrenia during one of our weekly broadcasts.  While this is a complicated disorder with a significant genetic component, there is a mounting line of evidence suggesting that individuals with this disorder have immune reactions to foods and that the immune chemicals to these foods can affect the brain.  In addition, we will discuss new data associating intestinal parasites with the condition and how this affects the immune cells to foods.  While there is not yet a study (to our knowledge) examining these variables in terms of prevention, this research raises the question of preventative strategies for those at highest risk.
