PHT 020 : The Mitochondria as They Relate to Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia

Today’s broadcast is on “The Mitochondria as they relate to Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia.”  The mitochondria are distinct entities inside the cells of our body, which make energy.  They in essence are responsible for turning the calories from our diet into usable energy us to function.
Research has shown that the mitochondria can be compromised in certain conditions, such as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia.  New light is being shed on how intracellular infections such as Mycoplasma species, Lyme’s disease, and other viruses can affect the mitochondria.  In addition, getting rid of these infections with antibiotics or antivirals often times does not lead to resolution of the symptoms we are discussing.
